Voices of the North

  • Holbrook Manor Wincanton, England, BA9 8BS United Kingdom (map)

The nations that comprise Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark) and the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) all have proud musical cultures and traditions.  There are of course the great figures recognised throughout the world, principally Grieg, Nielsen and Sibelius; but there are many other composers of enormous talent, many of whom have written music that deserves to be better known than it is today.  Using high quality recordings, join music historian Gwyn Parry-Jones as we explore the riches of their music.

Set in the peaceful Somerset countryside near Wincanton, Holbrook Manor is a graceful Georgian house combining heritage, comfort, and tranquillity. Its elegant architecture and landscaped gardens create a calm, inspiring setting, while cosy bedrooms and freshly prepared home-cooked meals ensure a relaxing stay. Guests can also enjoy complimentary use of the indoor pool, spa bath, sauna, and steam room.

With its serene atmosphere and warm hospitality, Holbrook Manor is the perfect place to learn, connect, and unwind.

The course runs from dinner on the first day (9th February) until lunch on the last day (11th February)
