Elizabeth I and the Elizabethans: A Cultural Golden Age

£150.00

Monday 8th December - Wednesday 10th December

Join us for a relaxing residential stay in the stunning setting of Pennard House for a fascinating course, some delicious locally-sourced food and a truly home-from-home atmosphere. Our tutor, Mark Cottle, will be exploring one of the most extraordinary monarchs in history, that of Elizabeth I.

Elizabeth I was the most remarkable woman of a remarkable age. Her reign was one of the great creative periods of English history – art, architecture and gardens, overseas exploration, literature and music all reached unprecedented heights. After a summary of Elizabeth and her reign, the course will look at each of these topics in turn. The aim is to demonstrate these great levels of artistic achievement and to recreate something of the energy, spirit, and confidence of this Golden Age.

The course runs from dinner on the first day (8th December) until lunch on the last day (10th December)
