Indian Block Printing
Learn about the traditional craft of Indian Block Printing with tutor Clare Walsh and enjoy using a collection of hand carved blocks to create designs on paper fabric.
We will start by looking at traditional blocks and samples of hand printed fabrics and you will learn about the process of printing from carving to finishing and how the technique and designs influenced designers in the UK .
After a demonstration you will use the blocks on paper, experimenting with design repeats, colour and pattern, then in the afternoon you will print a fabric bag or tea towel to take home using your favourite blocks.
Our home for the day will be the stunning surroundings of Pennard House, a Grade II listed manor house nestled in the idyllic Somerset countryside. The friendly team at Pennard will ensure you are well looked after throughout your visit with a beautiful 2-course lunch and refreshments, not to mention a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
