Born into a rural Dorset community with parents who were farmers and business people, John developed a naturally inquisitive mind for the natural world.

Although he would not go so far as to glue himself to a motorway road surface, he is a serious environmental champion. Being the youngest of four brothers, he was fortunate to travel widely and spent time living in New Zealand, where he was fascinated by the local culture and outdoor lifestyle.

After many years serving as a director across a number of SMEs, John settled back in Somerset and, upon retirement, was able to bring together all his experiences and knowledge into precise, personal talks and presentations on subjects close to his heart — which audiences consistently find both stimulating and entertaining.
